Review Of 'Identity' (2025)

 'Identity' (2025)

The first Malayalam film to watch on New Year's Eve. But it flows like a Tamil film. The only thing that seems to be Malayalam is the narration. While maintaining a unique style for Malayalam cinema, it can be said that Malayalam cinema has now reached a higher level in its journey to other genres. The action is very good, but the boss fight could have been more different in duration. The viewer should feel the capacity of that special character even more.

A group of people who blackmail and demand ransom for leaked videos can be seen at the beginning. But there is a twist that goes beyond that from beginning to end. As I said earlier, everything is closer to Tamil Nadu than Kerala. The main actress is Trisha anyway. But I personally don't like this kind of twist either. I don't like to watch something like that and say it's good. This is something that allows me to be in a good-bad atmosphere. The biggest problem here in terms of entertainment is that we don't really agree with a structure that goes beyond the pattern we have come to know as Malayalam cinema. But they are not people who are confined to one frame. They are people who very systematically include all kinds of genres in their scope.

There is a reason why I like this story. That is, the fact that you get to add something new to your knowledge through a film. Accordingly, here we encounter a strange disorder called Prosopagnosia. That is, a condition where human faces are not remembered properly. Sometimes we also feel like we have seen someone very well, but we can't remember who they are. It is presented here as a very complex case. This means that this is a chance for someone you know well to be confused with someone else's face. There will be many people who will enjoy this film, which was made based on that concept. For me, this is not the best, but I recommend it because it felt good.
